Coding and Analytics Committee

(This workgroup is a combined effort of the previous Coding, Classification, Reimbursement and the Health Informatics and Technology groups.)
• Expand educational opportunities which will enhance our members understanding of data analytics, CDI, coding, classification and reimbursement to provide needed skills to perform as leaders in health intelligence.

• Continue to advocate for the appropriate use of data for patient care and secondary uses with other healthcare associations, legislative leaders (both State and Federal), and HIM professionals.

• Coordinates Coding Roundtable activities and monitors RAC activity and other issues that impact reimbursement.
• One 1-hour conference call/month

• Time to develop /evaluate programming

• May require meeting with other healthcare association leaders

• May require time to review data uses for THA, TennCare, etc.

• Variable time to review/respond to member questions relative to coding, reimbursement, etc.
Governance

(This workgroup is a combined effort of the previous Legislative and HIE Taskforce groups.)
• Monitor and comment on legislation/regulation, coordinate TN Hill Day, respond to member questions as requested by Executive Director.

• Specifically, evaluate, monitor, and respond to legislation/regulation relative to patient matching, the Outcome of the 21st Century Cures Act, Patient Generated Health Data, use of opioids

• Continue to provide education relative to information governance through webinars, conferences, and advocate for the integrity of data in health records.
• One 1-hour conference call/month

• Some will meet with outside groups

• Additional time to develop / plan educational events

• Time to review legislation and provide comments

• Time to respond to member questions
HIM Pathways

(This workgroup is a combined effort of the previous Awards/Scholarship and HIM Leadership groups.)
• Education to expand members’ awareness of alternative career paths, new HIM functions needed for electronic health records, and leadership skills necessary for success.

• Mentor Program Engagement and Management
• One 1-hour conference call/month

• Time to review Award and Scholarship Applications

• Time for outreach to other groups
Consumer Engagement

(This workgroup is a combined effort of the previous HIM Awareness.)
• To engage the consumer population, including other healthcare associations, through education of the HIM Profession and items affecting the consumer population in which the HIM Professional holds the expertise.
• One 1-hour conference call/month

• Dependent upon programming to be developed

• Time for outreach to other groups
