Dear Members and Non-Members,
Sadly, it is official: the by-laws for the UETHIMA have been repealed and we are in the final stages of closing down the association.
2019-2020 Members have been registered for membership with the Knoxville Area HIM Association, unless they were already a member. A check has been sent to pay for the 2020-2021 dues and you should receive a notification. You might want to check your profile, as the data used was submitted from your prior membership profile.
Many HIM Professionals live and/or work near Knoxville and may have already been a member or recently joined.
You should start receiving notifications from KAHIMA for upcoming meetings/coding roundtables.
I wish we had been able to have a recent face-to-face meeting, however it is more important that you and your family are safe and well. It has been a pleasure serving you the past few years and getting reacquainted with many previous colleagues. I appreciate all of you and wish you the best in your careers and future personal time.
I want to take this time to personally thank Susan Torzewski for the mentoring she did as I rejoined the association, Gail Winkler for being willing to step up this past year and accept the President-Elect position. Last, I want to thank Peggy Metcalf for serving for over a year when our prior officer was unable to serve the full term.
Once I have re-confirmed that all appropriate documents (minutes and sign in sheets) have been uploaded to the Website, KnowledgeConnex will archive it, and Wanda McKnight and others will have access if there is anything needed.
The remaining funds, approximately $4,200.00 will go to the THIMA Foundation, which exists to support our continuing education.
Again, thank you all for voting and understanding why your Board took these steps. I hope to see you at a Knoxville or THIMA meeting soon.
Jackie Kirkey, RHIA
