As previously discussed, it is with regret that I notify you that the UETHIMA Board has voted to proceed in dissolving our local UETHIMA Association. Both the UETHIMA Board and THIMA Board have approved an Amendment to the current Bylaws to ‘repeal’ the UETHIMA Bylaws. Both boards approved this amendment unanimously.
After a 30 day review, members will be sent a separate message to vote on the Amendment. Once the votes are in, the Board will follow up with the appropriate steps to close any official business. We have received approval to pay 2020-2021 dues to the Knoxville local association for members who were active/paid on June 1, 2020. The remainder of our balance on hand will be turned over to THIMA. Since you are all members of THIMA, you will continue to benefit from this transfer.
Here is the proposed Amendment for your 30 day review.
Article XIV
Repeal
The Bylaws of the Upper East Tennessee Health Information Management Association (UETHIMA) are hereby repealed in their entirety, and UETHIMA is dissolved.
Again, the membership will review for 30 days, and then we will have a vote by a quorum of the members to adopt this amendment. Once approved, anyone who was eligible to be a member can now become a member of the Knoxville HIM Association. Knoxville is a very active group and hopefully you will ultimately find this a benefit.
Rationale: As you all know our Fiscal Year ends June 30th. We had 1 person willing to run for a UETHIMA Board position. Unfortunately, there were 2 position vacancies this year, so your Board discussed this process with Wanda McKnight, THIMA Executive Director, as well as the current THIMA President and President Elect, Jamie Glenn and Laritha Boone. UETHIMA will not have a full component of Officers to fulfill all Board positions and, therefore, decided to dissolve.
